Germantown’s former Tuesday Morning will be the location of Tennessee’s first Daiso, an international retail brand.
Daiso will be located in Germantown Plaza, the shopping center west of Exeter Road and south of Farmington Boulevard anchored by Planet Fitness and Hobby Lobby. The store sells Japanese-inspired home products, beauty products, snacks, stationery and cookware.
Sidney Seale and Shawn Massey of The Shopping Center Group executed the lease for the 11,800-square-foot space. Tuesday Morning closed the store in 2023 when the company filed for bankruptcy and shuttered stores nationwide.
Daiso has more than 6,000 stores worldwide, about 150 of those are in the United States.
The store’s origin dates to 1972 in Kagematsu, Japan, when founder Hirotake Yano sold household goods at a street stand for 100 yen. The store expanded to other countries before entering the United States in 2004.
The closest locations to Shelby County are in the Dallas area and Wentzville, Missouri, northwest of St. Louis.
