Alabama’s First HomeSense Coming to Riverchase Crossings

Alabama’s first HomeSense and a new Shoe Dept. are coming to Riverchase Crossings Shopping Center in Hoover, bringing two new retailers to the former Big Lots space along Montgomery Highway.

The 37,793-square-foot space, which has remained vacant since Big Lots closed in 2025, will be divided to accommodate the two retailers. HomeSense will occupy approximately 27,278 square feet, while Shoe Dept. will take approximately 10,515 square feet.

HomeSense, part of the TJX family of brands, offers an assortment of furniture, artwork, rugs, lighting and home décor. The new Hoover store will mark the retailer’s first location in Alabama. Shoe Dept., operated by North Carolina-based Shoe Show, Inc., offers footwear and accessories for women, men and children. The new location will be the retailer’s first in Hoover.

TSCG’s Andy Dennis and Greg Hess represented HomeSense in the transaction while Kathy Dennis and Logan Linville represented Shoe Dept.

The additions bring new activity to Riverchase Crossings, which is also home to retailers including Trader Joe’s, Sierra, Michaels, Office Depot and NAPA Auto Parts.

TSCG now represents the available small-shop space at Riverchase Crossings, offering additional opportunities for retailers to join the growing tenant mix. Available spaces range from approximately 1,157 to 1,203 square feet, with the ability to combine spaces for up to 3,551 square feet.
