Inked: Mother and Son Lease Space at Regalia Shopping Center

Local interior designer Sara Walden will open a 1,215-square-foot studio in Regalia Shopping Center at 6150 Poplar Ave.

Walden plans to open Curated Interiors in October, about a month after searching for a new space. She is building out the space to add a fabric and material display as well as an office in the new store.

The studio will operate in the space formerly occupied by boutique Hemline.

Her son Griffen Walden (pictured), alongside Hurston Reed with The Shopping Center Group, represented her in the three-year lease. Jonathan Aur with Jones Aur Commercial Real Estate represented the land owner Boyle Investment Co.

Sara Walden chose Regalia because of its visibility from Poplar Avenue and the neighboring tenants, including menswear retailer Oak Hall and the restaurant Bog & Barley.

“It’s exciting to work with family,” Griffen Walden said. “The fact that we were able to make it work on a good timeline for her and that she will be able to open her doors in the coming month is just thrilling.”

Griffen Walden started last month as an associate with TSCG and brokered his first deal, his mom’s studio lease, about five weeks into the position.

“I see huge opportunity here in Memphis,” Griffen Walden said. “TSCG’s mentorship has been incredible and helping my mom launch her own studio made the first deal especially meaningful.”

Danny Buring, managing partner of TSCG, called Griffen Walden a natural in real estate and said landing a deal early in this career is rare.

“It’s rare for a new associate to land a deal this quickly,” Buring said. “And representing family isn’t a gimme – it raises the bar. He delivered the kind of client care we expect: treat every client like family.”
