Tangram

One of the largest hotpot chains in China is coming to Flushing next year.

Xiao Long Kan Hot Pot, the second largest hotpot chain in China, plans to open a Flushing restaurant by the summer of 2020, representing the company’s first foray into the North American market.

The restaurant will move into a 5,000 square foot space in Tangram, the 1.2 million square foot mega development in Flushing that includes retail stores, a hotel, offices and condos.

Xiao Long Kan has 800 locations across the globe and this will be its U.S. flagship. The company plans to open a Los Angeles restaurant soon after it establishes its Flushing location.

The restaurant chain is recognized across China for its signature take on the traditional spicy hot pot.

Inspired by the Chinese puzzle of the same name, Tangram is a mix of retail, residential, hotel and office space designed to add to Flushing’s growing prosperity.

Ian Rice, a SCG Retail broker representing Tangram, said that the restaurant’s opening will not only bring one of China’s most popular restaurants to the retail unit, but continue to diversify Tangram and drive significant traffic to the project..
