Biography
Katie Whitson Shields was born and raised in Lilburn, Georgia. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Accounting in 2011. Katie started her career at Alliant CPA Firm with an incredible group of people, which helped her find her next role at the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Katie spent 5 years working at this wonderful non-profit wearing many hats: event planning, HR, accounting, volunteer management, fundraising, and logistics. Katie joined TSCG in 2017 as an HR Administrative Assistant and Event Coordinator. In December 2018, Katie earned her Human Resources Certified Professional designation from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Shortly after earning her SHRM-CP, Katie became the HR Manager at TSCG. She received the honor of her life, so far, when she was nominated and approved to become a Partner at TSCG in January 2023. Through continuous training, learning, mentoring, and coaching, Katie was promoted to Assistant Director of Human Resources in July 2024. She loves doing whatever she can to help her TSCG team/family – whether it is with benefits, PTO, onboarding, insurance, employee relations/engagement, and anything and everything HR and TSCG related.

Retail Rewind

Favorite Retail Store as a Child
The one and only J.C. Penney! Katie's family has a long history with JCP: her maternal grandfather was a store manager at multiple JCP's in SC, VA, and NC in the 1950s, and her aunt and uncle spent decades working for JCP and retired from the company. Even her mom worked at JCP while she was in high school during the 1960s! It was the place to go for back to school shopping, holiday gifts, and Easter dresses.
